Carnaval on Lanzarote
Costa Teguise Carnaval
Costa Teguise Carnaval took place in February. The Carnaval starts with the birth of the sardine and ends with the burning or burial of the sardine. It's similar to a Harvest Festival.
The evening before this carnaval parade there was a band on the back of a truck playing to the crowds. There was also a torchlight procession held by mainly German people. I don't know what that was about but we joined in for a bit!
The Carnaval is great fun and most of the Spanish people and the locals join in! The parade ends with very loud fireworks as is traditional in Spain.
