A lot of the things to do in Costa Teguise obviously involve the sea.
Costa Teguise has several beaches along its coastline which are perfect for sunbathing. The main beach has a divided off into an area for windsurfing so that you can swim in the other area safely. The sea is generally warm enough to swim in all year round. You can hire sunbeds for a reasonable cost on some of the beaches. Always use a hight protection factor suncream as the sun is very strong all year round, but if ther eis a cooling breeze it may not seem so hot.
I found Costa Teguise to be perfect for snorkelling in certain areas, as there are some rocky outcrops quite close to the sea. I saw quite a few shoals of fish of various varieties. Some are quite colourful. There isn't anything dangerous in the waters off Lanzarote. It is quite easy and relaxing to lie on top of the water and watch the fish pass by.
I am not a diver myself, I never fancied falling backwards off a boat and dropping down to the bottom of the sea. I was persuaded to try when I found out that lost of the diving compainies let you walk in from the shore, which suited me better until I felt more comfortable. YOu are weightless in the water and can just drift around. There is lots to see and I can recommend the experience. There are strenuous routes if you would like a challenge.
Cycling is very popular and you can see lots of "proper" cyclists with proper cycling gear as you go around the island. Other people prefer just to cycle around the local area. There are bikes to hire from different companies.
The ayuntamiento (town council) of Teguise has a series of "guided hikes in nature". Usually one a month. You should be able to get information on this from the tourist information office or you can call the Culture department directly on 928 84 59 99.
Driving is quite easy on Lanzarote even though they use the wrong side of the road! The roads are generally quiet and so getting around is quite easy. YOu can hire a car if you have your driving licence, read the small print however as you are probably not insured if you take the car off the tarmac roads to reach a quiet spot. The island is quite small and you can get from A-B quite quickly.
Costa Teguise consists of lots of shopping centres all with bars and restaurants, so the men can enjoy a pint whilst the women shop! There are lots of perfume and make up shops stocking Clinique or Lancome products for example, and lots of electrical shops offering duty free items. You should check the prices at hme if you plan to buy something as I don't think the prices are much cheaper.
